#MCEC2024 is focused on School Safety. Please see the larger call for more information. However, in an effort to support early career scholars, scholar practitioners, and emerging research, we will review abstracts in all areas.
Abstracts should include:
- Names of all authors. The presenting author should be the submitting/corresponding author. Please limit the number of authors listed to those who have substantially contributed to the research. If authors’ names appear on more than one proposal, their names must appear and be spelled identically on each abstract.
- A short specific title indicating the nature of the presentation. Data driven abstracts are preferred and the background and goals of the study should be clear to the reader. This should be followed by a succinct summary of methods, a description of results, and clear conclusions. Please do not include tables, charts or other graphics.
- The title may not exceed 25 words including spaces. The abstract text may not be longer than 500 words.
- Although there is no limit to the number of abstracts an author may submit, redundancy is discouraged.
- Disclosure of potential conflict of interest (e.g. grant support, consultancy, membership on advisory councils, speaker’s bureau) by all authors and source of funding are mandatory. All disclosures should be listed for efforts conducted within the last 3 year.
- Do not use abbreviations in the title. Limit their use to commonly used abbreviations and expand all abbreviations at first mention.
- Notifications will be on or by Nov 1 (or sooner). Detailed information on installation and presentation of posters will be mailed directly to the corresponding author. Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by all author(s) to register if accepted.
Poster Presentation Guidelines
- Please bring tacks or velcro for your poster. We recommend posters be 36″ x 48″ in either landscape or portrait layout.
- Posters will be most effective if they are organized into distinct sections such as title, author, author affiliation, abstract, background, methodology, data, results, conclusion, references. Posters may also include alternate sections such as program or practice description, evidence for the model or practice, and outcomes.
- Use font appropriate to the size of the poster.
- As a general rule, the content of the poster should be readable from a distance of five feet.
- Avoid difficult-to-read fonts.
- Be concise in the presentation of content. Avoid wordy descriptions.
- Design graphs, charts, and tables to show results. Avoid presenting too many variables on a single graph or chart.
- Consider providing smaller copies of the poster with author contact info for those in attendance at the poster session of the conference.
